"Ij iokwe eok kwoj iokwe na" (I love you, you love me)
Gigi Wang, my friend in college, has been spending more than half year on Marshall Islands, a place far away from Taiwan. As a member of Taiwan Youth Overseas Service, he has been working hard and enjoying the life in the tropical area.
Time flied by while he was sweating under the sun, helping to develop the business of animal science, interacting with native people, trying to make food hybridized from marshallese and Taiwaness food, fishing, diving, photographing, etc. Now it is almost time for him to say goodbye.
On his farewell party a few days ago, Gigi played this mv for the very first time. He said that the inspiration came from the Marshallese traditional balland - "Ij iokwe eok kwoj iokwe na" (I love you, you love me). Soon he wrote the lyrics, composed the music, and translated the lyrics into Marshallese with his friend's help. With the photos and videos taken by Gigi, this mv records the life on Marshall Islands.
I have never been to Marshall Islands. I know nothing about these islands other than from Gigi's pictures and articles. However, the rhythm of this song is charming, the lyrics are cute and warm, and the pictures and videos inside are telling so many stories by themselves. Admirably, this mv stimulated my sympathy.
Sharing this lovely mv here with my friends shows my feelings about you guys - Ij iokwe eok kwoj iokwe na. :)
